Behind the Scenes of My 304 Today Interview 🖤

Last week, I had the wonderful opportunity to sit down with 304 Today for an interview with sweet Miss Lauren — who truly made the experience feel welcoming and easy, even for someone who was quietly panicking on the inside 😅
If I’m being honest, I was absolutely nervous.
Writing stories is one thing. Sitting in front of cameras and talking about yourself, your books, and your journey? That is something entirely different. I definitely stumbled over a few words here and there, but at the heart of it, I was incredibly grateful for the opportunity to share my work and talk about the world of Brakesville.
During the interview, we talked about the kinds of stories I write — from horror, mystery, and young adult fiction to Appalachian Gothic storytelling and spooky-sweet children’s books.
So much of my work is inspired by the quiet corners of Appalachia — the folklore, small towns, family stories, mist-covered hills, and that feeling that something old and mysterious might still linger just beyond the tree line.
I also had the chance to share two of my books during the interview:
📖 The Mystery of Cerise Falls — my debut novella and the beginning of the Brakesville world.
📖 Beyond the Raspberry Bushes: Scarecrow of Crawdad Creek — an Appalachian Gothic novella filled with folklore, unease, and the quiet kind of fear that settles in slowly.
One of my favorite questions from the interview was:
“Do you have a full-length novel coming soon?”
The answer is a very excited YES.
Echoes of Before – Lester’s Story releases on May 30, 2026, and I truly cannot wait to share this story. Lester has quietly been waiting his turn for a long time, and readers will finally get to step deeper into the heart of Brakesville.
We also talked about where readers can find my books. You can find them through major retailers including Amazon, Walmart, Books-A-Million, Barnes & Noble, as well as directly through my website:
🖤
And I would be remiss not to mention the wonderful local businesses supporting my books:
🖤 Lazy Acres Mart in Buckhannon🖤 CrimBridge Coffee Empourium in Belington🖤 Mystic Merchants in Beverly (coming soon)
I’m also excited to share that I’ll be attending the first-ever Creative Market at Lazy Acres Mart over Memorial Day Weekend (May 23–24, 2026) for my first-ever two-day book signing. Reese and I are looking forward to meeting readers, signing books, and spending time with the community.
To everyone who has supported my books, encouraged this journey, visited a signing, shared a post, or stepped into Brakesville with me — thank you.
Stories are a funny thing. Sometimes they begin as quiet ideas scribbled into notebooks, and somehow, before you know it, you find yourself sitting on a television set talking about worlds that once only existed in your imagination.
And that? That’s pretty special. 🖤
